With the theme Synergies and Sustainability, the meeting was one of the initiatives to strengthen partnerships with its suppliers and the commitment undertaken by the company in March this year: the 2030 Sustainability Agenda. M. Dias Branco is a signatory of the Global Compact of the United Nations (UN) and bases its initiatives on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), included in the global agenda.

Closing 2022 activities, the Supply area held its first M. Dias Branco’s Workshop for Suppliers. With more than 1,000 spectators, the event aimed to engage suppliers in the innovation and ESG (environmental, social and governance) agenda. The event was held in Eusébio/CE, the company’s headquarters, with simultaneous broadcasting via YouTube.

Denis Almeida, Supplies Executive Officer, headed the group of leaders who had an active participation in the event: Luciane Sallas, Financial Planning Investment Officer; Daniella Pessoa, Environment Manager; Fábio Pimentel, Corporate Supplies Manager; Tiago Timbó, Communication, Culture and Sustainability Manager, and Thays Garcia, Sustainability Coordinator.

“The workshop for suppliers was very important to strengthen the relationship with these business partners and align expectations, addressing current and relevant topics. As 2022 was the first event, it was held with the theme Synergies and Sustainability, to convey to our suppliers our desire for increasingly solid and sustainable alliances”, Denis pointed out.

M. Dias Branco’s ESG 2030 Agenda was presented and lectures were given by representatives of CEBDS (Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development) and CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), reference institutions in Climate Change and Carbon Management, as well as pioneering suppliers in the reduction of emissions, Klabin, Barry and Raízen. “M. Dias Branco’s size, reach, and results entail responsibility towards our entire supply chain. The positive influence is materialized through the alignment with these business partners which already takes place on a daily basis, but which is consolidated in an event like this”, says Fábio Pimentel, Corporate Supplies Manager.

On the occasion, Daniella Pessoa, Environment Manager, led the round table focused on Climate Change and Carbon Management, with the participation of Denis Almeida and representatives of the invited companies: Caio Lazaretti – CDP; Ricardo Mastroti – CEBDS; Júlio Cesar – Klabin; Raony Penteado – Barry Callebaut; and Bruno Maier – Raízen.

Further on the ESG theme, Fábio highlights one of M. Dias Branco’s goals for 2030, which is to increase purchases with local suppliers, keeping in mind the promotion of the Brazilian market, which is why the Company supports suppliers in their development. To this end, this event delivered plenty of content and a support mechanism for growth and positive feedback for suppliers and for the Company.

In this context, the “Supply Alliance” initiative was presented, which is expected to be consolidated as an ecosystem to generate value for the entire chain. This ecosystem includes the Supplier Coach, a program built in partnership with Procurement Garage, a consulting company focused on Supply Chain, to help

the development of suppliers. Leonardo Alexander, Procurement Garage CEO, explains the construction and importance of Supplier Coach: “the program was designed so that different types of suppliers, with different performance and size, could benefit from structured development plans that will enable a more strategic performance, enhancing financial and reputational gains for these companies”.

Through easier access to training and consulting on various topics, such as business management, purchasing, and ESG, our suppliers will expand their business capacity and we will ensure a chain that is better prepared for the new emerging challenges and opportunities,” said Denis. Supplier Coach program is already available for M. Dias Branco suppliers who want to be part of this growth chain.
