M. Dias Branco achieves, for the second consecutive year, the highest score in CDP Climate and is included in 2024 A-List

M. Dias Branco, a food manufacturer, has once again been recognized in one of the world’s leading awards for climate change management. The company ranked among the top 2% of companies classified with an A score in CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), maintaining its position on 2024 A-List — a select group of organizations that show global leadership in transparency and climate management, among more than 22,400 companies assessed worldwide. This result reinforces the Company’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and its journey towards a low-carbon future.

CDP is one of the most renowned global non-profit organizations, responsible for the largest and most comprehensive environmental disclosure system in the world. The assessment methodology rates companies from A to D- based on the quality and scope of the information reported, climate risk management and adoption of best practices, such as setting ambitious goals and effective actions for the climate transition.

Since 2021, M. Dias Branco has been strengthening its climate strategy with structured initiatives to reduce emissions throughout its value chain. Descarbonize Program, launched in 2023, guides the implementation of the Company’s Climate Transition Plan, focusing on 10 pillars.

Sustainability at M. Dias Branco

Sustainability is one of the Company’s pillars, and through specific Working Groups (WG), it has been monitoring the progress of the public goals outlined in ESG Strategic Agenda until 2030.  The Materiality Analysis considered the 17 UN SDGs for creation of the 15 priority themes. The Company also conducts monitoring through the Sustainability Committee, ESG Committee, and Board of Directors. The Sustainability Policy is part of the governance of priority themes, and guides the Company’s stance.

On the Company’s website, it is possible to follow the progress of each of the established public goals, including those related to social responsibility and governance. With its ESG Strategic Agenda relaunched in 2022, M. Dias Branco has already achieved, in the environmental pillar, at least half of each target set for 2030. Check out some examples below:

– Sustainable packaging: reach 100% sustainable plastic packaging (recyclable, compostable and/or biodegradable) – early achieved: 95%;

– Renewable energy: Use 90% renewable energy (scope 2) – early achieved 70% of the 90% announced;

– Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions: reduce absolute GHG scope 1 and 2 emissions by 20% – early achieved 18% of the 20% announced;

– Waste to Landfills: achieve 0% of waste sent to landfills in all operations – currently at 2.92%, with Zero Landfill achievement under Jasmine healthiness brand.

Other goals of M. Dias Branco’s ESG Strategy Agenda include water reuse, recyclable packaging, and reduced input loss.
